Abington High School would like to thank Sheri Watson for coming to talk to the students about her career as an interior designer. Ms. Watson has been a professor at Moore College of Art for nearly 10 years. Ms. Watson engaged students and answered their questions, one of which was about the benefits and risks of AI in her job, a very pertinent topic to young people today. Thank you again, Ms. Watson; we hope to have you back soon. We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #FirstinAcademics

On Wednesday, February 25, the ASHS Stage Crew, led by Dr. Tara Moore, held an open house in the auditorium. Friends and family of the stage crew members were invited behind the scenes to see all of the pieces the stage crew has worked so hard to create. It was a great turnout and a great way to show off the hard work of our stage crew students who planned, designed, built, and painted all of these set pieces from scratch! Come see their work onstage at the all-school musical, Guys and Dolls, February 26, 27, and 28! We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #FirstintheArts

On Friday, 2/20, Ashley Zucker, a Cytologist from Thomas Jefferson University and Fox Chase Cancer Center, visited Mr. Heines’ Medical Interventions classes for a Career Chatter. Mrs. Zucker spoke about the value of a career in cytology and shared insights into the many aspects of working in laboratories and hospitals, including biopsying and identifying healthy and diseased tissues. She explained how cytologists play a critical role in diagnosing illnesses and supporting patient care behind the scenes. During her visit, Mrs. Zucker led students in collecting their own tissue samples, guiding them through the staining process, and helping them view their samples under the microscope. She also brought real patient samples for students to examine, allowing them to practice identifying different types of cells and tissues just as professionals do in the field.

THIS WEEKEND! Open House at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) in Willow Grove is Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to see how EASTERN can give students a competitive edge in college or in a specialized career program. At the Open House, parents and students will learn how EASTERN students can earn college credits while still in high school through dual enrollment and articulation agreements. The Open House also offers an opportunity to hear from EASTERN instructors on the hands-on learning environment that complements students’ high school academics. Many special activities in EASTERN’s career programs are scheduled, and college and military representatives will be on site.

On Tuesday, February 24, ASHS students participated in the World Language Oral Proficiency Contest. Abington competed in French, German, Chinese, and Spanish. We congratulate all participants and the following medal winners: Yulee Murphy, Juliet Bartner, Patrick Pelosi, Jason Woodruff, and Autumn Wilkins. Because of the variation in different school program sizes, French and Spanish programs were allowed to send one student per level while Chinese and German were allowed to send two students per level.
Bravo! Gratulation! 恭喜! Enhorabuena!
