It's a busy week for seniors here at Abington Senior High School! We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #ASDProud #FirstintheAlphabet

The vocal music department has been extremely busy at ASHS this past week. Thursday night, May 8, the choral department put on their annual spring concert, directed by Mrs. Lori Wolf. The event consisted of performances by Concert Choir and Chorale, 7 senior spot solos, an a cappella piece from the Abingtones, recognizing 29 seniors, and two grand finale numbers featuring all 130 singers.
Monday night, May 12, was the annual A Cappella Night in the Black Box Theater, featuring the ASHS student-run a cappella group, the Abingtones. The group performed 6 songs to a packed house. Great job, everyone! We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #ASDProud #FirstintheAlphabet #FirstinActivities @abingtonsd

Last night the Class of 2028 hung out at Dave & Buster's. They had a blast, and Mr. Brison kept a close eye on everyone! We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #Firstinthealphabet

On Friday, May 9, Dr. Phil Skiba visited Abington Senior High School for the second time this year. Dr. Skiba shared his journey with students—from studying biology and microbiology, to becoming a physician, PhD, and leader in the field of Sports and Exercise Medicine—is nothing short of inspiring. Hearing about your work with Olympic athletes, Team USA, and even the groundbreaking Nike Breaking 2 project gave our students a glimpse into a world where science, medicine, and elite athletic performance come together. Many students stayed after to ask more questions—they were clearly excited and curious, which speaks volumes about how much Dr. Skiba’s session resonated with them. Thank you to Dr. Skiba for his generosity and commitment to mentorship. We are #AbingtonProud #ASDProud #ASHSProud #FirstinAcademics @abingtonsd

On Friday, May 9, we welcomed Antranig Garibian—a successful business lawyer and proud Abington Senior High alum—back to campus for an inspiring visit to Think Tank 2! Speaking to Mr. Deck’s class, Mr. Garibian shared his incredible journey from nearly pursuing medicine to finding his true calling in law. Dr. Garvey, director of the Philadelphia Police Department's Forensics Department visited for a Career Chatter on Tuesday, 5/6/25. He highlighted the importance of staying open to opportunities over the course of a career. Initially interested in medical school, and working as a paramedic during college, he pivoted to forensics and worked with the FBI and later the CIA in identifying individuals from flight 93 on 9/11. He discussed the importance of using DNA technology as a tool in the context of critical thinking (about what it can and cannot tell us). His advice to students pursuing a career in forensics is to apply to programs with strong science courses and requirements and to specialize in chemistry and biology rather than criminal justice. We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #FirstinAcademics @abingtonschooldistrict

On Thursday, May 1st the Business and Entrepreneurship Career Chatter hosted Tom Dunn and Joe Rinaldi in Think Tank 2. Along with a few upperclassmen students, Ms. Regan's and Mrs. Peters' Foundations of Innovation classes were in attendance and were able to get real insight into the lives of 2 entrepreneurs. Students thoroughly participated in a well-rounded Q&A session, and walked away with contacts for potential future endeavors. We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #FirstinAcademics @abingtonschooldistrict
