On December 3rd, ASHS hosted a panel from Penn State Abington. We want to thank Meredith Tarditi, Career Counselor; Sue Robinson, Assistant Teaching Professor and Program Chair of the Dept. of Criminal Justice; Jane Lee, IT Program Chair and Lecturer; and Joseph Oaks, Program Chair, Cybersecurity Analytics and Operations, for coming in and sharing about their career journeys and also about Penn State Abington with our students. Hearing about your path and the advice you offered helped students see what’s possible and sparked a lot of great questions and ideas. We truly appreciate your effort in inspiring and encouraging our students as they think about their own futures. We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #FirstinAcademics @psucareersab @psuabington

Thank you to Dr. Pollen from Jefferson University for spending time with our health classes this week! He talked about how different sports use different training techniques, and students had plenty of questions about exercises connected to their own athletic interests.

He also walked everyone through a few movements, showing how proper form can prevent injuries and improve performance. Students tried things out, got feedback, and shared some of their own training experiences.

Dr. Pollen wrapped up by encouraging everyone to stay active and find a sport or activity they genuinely enjoy. We appreciate his time and the great conversation! We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #FirstinActivities

On Wednesday, a group of 12th grade students attended the Eastern Atlantic States Carpenters Technical Center, where Director and all-around rock star Bob Landy took time out of his day to give a tour of the facilities. The students learned all about the various specialties available within the school, including millwrights, flooring, traditional carpentry, cabinet making, and more. They were amazed at the high tech classrooms, and even more so by the work and dedication that goes into becoming a skilled craftsman. They were fascinated with the coursework that is provided at EASCT, including the courses on blueprint reading, underwater welding, and so much more all available to those enrolled in the apprenticeship program. Today they learned all about putting the SKILL in skilled trades, and how this career can help them become true leaders in their communities.

The students of the ASHS Chorale, directed by Mrs. Wolf, and the students of Advanced Music Production and Design, taught by Mr. Longwill, collaborated on a brand-new arrangement of "Carol of the Bells" to submit to the B101 Christmas Choir Competition 2025. The students in AMPD composed and recorded themselves performing the arrangement, which featured guitar, drum, keys, and rap. The students then held a recording session in the Black Box Theater, where Chorale added in their voices. The very unique piece has been submitted to the contest, and the semi-finalists will be announced this Friday on B101 in the 7am hour. We wish these ASHS musicians good luck!
