Mrs. England's cooking class hosted a summer BBQ-themed event as a culminating project for the end of the semester. Students prepared a delicious BBQ meal for guests to partake in. Dr. Fecher, Coach Garber, and others said the food was very tasty and students did a great job hosting. Thanks to Mrs. England for organizing such a fun event for our students. This past Friday, the choir, band, and orchestra of ASHS traveled to Hershey Park for an orchestra masterclass at Lebanon Valley College and a choral competition through Music in the Parks. The band and orchestra did an impressive and wonderful job performing at LVC.

The ASHS choirs competed against 4 other high schools from Pennsylvania and Maryland, as well as 6 middle schools. We are happy to announce that the Concert Choir received a superior rating and received second place in the Mixed HS Choir Division, and Chorale received a superior rating and first place in the Mixed HS Choir Division. And Chorale received the best overall choir award out of 10 total choirs.

We are very proud of all of our musicians! We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #FirstintheArts

A huge thanks to Ryan Weathers for coming to talk to our students in their health classes. Ryan Weathers is the Supervisor of Health & Physical Education within the Abington School District. He showed the students a diagram of his passions and professions to try to explain how he is able to tie the two together. He also showed that career building is very important, not only for the experience but also for the building of wages over time. Thank you! We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #FirstinAcademics

Abington Senior High School would like to thank Brett Cutler for sharing his experience as a steamfitter for Steamfitters Local 420 and director of HVACR training. He talked about his educational journey and encouraged students to look beyond a traditional college education and consider the possibility of a trade.

Cutler gave some powerful advice on following one's passions and working with one's strengths. He described the benefits of trade jobs in general and emphasized that there are many paths available to find the right fit. We are so grateful for his words of wisdom and hope to have another visit in the future! We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #FirstinAcademics
