The vocal music department has been extremely busy at ASHS this past week. Thursday night, May 8, the choral department put on their annual spring concert, directed by Mrs. Lori Wolf. The event consisted of performances by Concert Choir and Chorale, 7 senior spot solos, an a cappella piece from the Abingtones, recognizing 29 seniors, and two grand finale numbers featuring all 130 singers.
Monday night, May 12, was the annual A Cappella Night in the Black Box Theater, featuring the ASHS student-run a cappella group, the Abingtones. The group performed 6 songs to a packed house. On Friday, May 9, Dr. Phil Skiba visited Abington Senior High School for the second time this year. Dr. Skiba shared his journey with students—from studying biology and microbiology, to becoming a physician, PhD, and leader in the field of Sports and Exercise Medicine—is nothing short of inspiring. Hearing about your work with Olympic athletes, Team USA, and even the groundbreaking Nike Breaking 2 project gave our students a glimpse into a world where science, medicine, and elite athletic performance come together. Many students stayed after to ask more questions—they were clearly excited and curious, which speaks volumes about how much Dr. Skiba’s session resonated with them.
