On Friday, March 6, AbingThon and students of Abington Senior High School participated in a PIE-AN-OVERALL event during L&L. The goal was to raise a minimum of $150 for kids with pediatric cancer at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; around $160 was raised! Abington Senior High School's Chess Team competed at the Pennsylvania State Scholastic Championship this weekend in Harrisburg.

The team of Doron Fox, Joe Clark, Sofi Ebora, and Kareem Trickey
finished second in the u1300 division. Doron and Joe led the way with 3rd and 10th place finishes, respectively, in their individual play.
Erik Jazexhiu placed 10th in the u1000 division. Sofi Ebora, Dareece
Joyner, and Matan Fox all received commendations for their outstanding play.

Abington Senior High School would like to thank Julius King, a performance coach, for coming to speak to our health classes and inform students about his career and personal experiences! He spoke about his background as a personal trainer and previous work in football camps. He told the students about how his past experiences helped him realize what he wanted to do in life and helped lead him to his current mission of 'A Better Me.' He also served as a great inspiration for students, advising them to focus on their health, believe, and commit to what they want to do with their lives. We are extremely grateful for Julius coming to our school, not only to connect with students and share his story but also to inspire them. Thank you so much, Julius King! Finishing as the #7 seed in District One, the team is looking to make a deep run in the State Playoffs. Tickets are on sale on piaa.org. Come out and support the team this weekend!

ASHS extends our congratulations to Ella Swanljung for her outstanding performance this past weekend. Ella placed 4th in the 200m Dash at the PFTCA State Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Penn State University, finishing with an impressive time of 25.06. She is currently ranked #6 in the state of Pennsylvania.

Abington High School would like to thank Sheri Watson for coming to talk to the students about her career as an Interior Designer. She's a profesor at Moore College of Art for nearly 10 years. She allowed students to ask questions about herself and her career. Some students asked her about what she thought about AI relation to her job. She said that AI is very helpful in a lot of ways.

Brian Goldblatt, stage manager at Montgomery Theater, came to the high school to discuss his experience as a stage manager. He taught our students skills, introduced them to the art of stage managing, and had them practice through video performances! Thank you, Mr. Goldblatt! On Feb 20, Al Hatton and Juliana Ascunsion from Constellation Energy visited Ms. Lips' classroom during Lunch and Learn to speak with students about renewable energy and environmental protection. They shared insights into how their work supports the transition to cleaner energy sources and reduces environmental impact. Students learned about real-world applications of renewable technologies, current challenges in the energy sector, and career pathways in sustainability. Their presentation helped connect our classroom learning to meaningful work happening in the energy industry today.
