Under the direction of guest conductor Dr. Gerardo Edelstein, who currently serves as director of orchestral studies at Pennsylvania State University, this festival was the culmination of an arduous audition process that began in December 2025. The students who performed in this ensemble are Alexander Hilliard – Grade 12 – Viola David Klinger – Grade 12 – Oboe/English Horn Adam Silverman – Grade 12 – String Bass Benjamin Sonntag – Grade 12 – Cello Jiahong Gao – Grade 11 - Violin Brandon Hiriak – Grade 11 – French Horn Jacob Hong – Grade 11 – Viola – Rachel Lee - Grade 11 – Violin William Michalski – Grade 11 – Violin Kayla Thurston – Grade 11 – Flute Of the students listed above, based on their re-audition scores at Regions, four students will be representing Abington Senior High School at the PMEA All State Orchestra Festival in April. Huge thanks to Robert Serianni, a chair, director, and professor in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at Salus University. Robert has practiced as a Speech-Language Pathologist since 1996 and presented the connections he has made and the types of people he has met during his career. He spoke about a patient he has had who couldn't communicate well and only produced one word, but now that the patient is able to form sentences and communicate with the people around him. Thank you again to Robert Serianni. #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud

A huge thank you to Antranig Garibian, Esq., for coming in to speak to students. Garibian shared his personal experiences and journey in the legal field. He discussed his daily life as a trial lawyer and owner of Garibian Law Offices, the struggles and difficulties of the job, as well as the rewards. As a lawyer, you can't win every case, but you can do everything in your power to help solve the matter civilly. We are grateful for the insight and real-world perspective he brought to the conversation. Such an inspiring and impactful visit! We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #FirstinAcademcis

Abington Senior High School extends its sincere thanks to Judy Scotto, who has been a nurse for 45 years. She has known what she's wanted to do since she was 10 years old, but she explained to students that not everyone figures it out that early. Sometimes it takes time to discover exactly what you want to do. Nurses truly make a difference, and Judy explained how grateful she is to wake up every morning and go to a job she loves because of the gratification she gets through helping others. Our sewing students recently went on their semester field trip to Hobby Lobby, where they learned how to select the appropriate fabric for their projects. During the visit, students explored different materials and had the opportunity to feel the texture, weight, and drape of various fabrics.

Prior to the trip, students practiced project planning and learned how to estimate the cost of materials for their final projects. Each of the three sewing levels had a unique experience. For many Level 1 students, this was their first visit to the store, and the more advanced students modeled how to communicate with staff at the cutting table.

The staff at Hobby Lobby were enthusiastic about working with our students and asked about the projects they were planning to create. Experiences like this are memorable for students and help build both community and confidence.

To make the trip even more special, on the final day, our bus driver, Mr. Ginty, played the bagpipes for the students. They were truly in awe of his talent.

Overall, it was a successful and enriching trip that has prepared our students well for their upcoming sewing projects. We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #FirstinActivities

How do students get the nutrients from their school provided oranges?

This week using the oranges that Mr. O’Hara’s STRIVE students collect , Fruit Ninjas repurposed the donated oranges, turning the fruits into freshly squeezed orange juice!
The ninjas peeled approximately 80 oranges , creating about 3 gallons of all-natural orange juice!
The ninjas then offered free freshly squeezed oranges to students at after-school activities.
The ninjas are giving back to our school community!

Many thanks to Mr. Gross and the food committee for encouraging us with this project! We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #FirstinActivities

This past weekend was the PIAA State Tournament for wrestling.

Michelle Yakupova won her 7th place match on Saturday. She is the first ever Abington Girls Wrestling PIAA State Medalist! She ends a 17-year hiatus for the Ghosts, claiming a PIAA State medal. She is the first underclass medalist since 1995.

Chelsea Kamgaing just missed placing, falling in the blood round to a 2x State Medalist. Just a sophomore, she will have two more cracks at it. We are all super proud of how far she has progressed; she will be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come!

Ryan Solomon wrestled his last matches as a Ghost on Thursday night. His weight class was one of the deepest in the field, wrestling a returning state medalist in the first round consolations. He finishes an impressive career second in all-time wins with 108, a 2x Regional Placewinner, and 1x State Qualifier. We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #FirstinAthletics
