Abington Senior High School

On Friday, January 31, seven Abington High School students were named to the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association All State Modern Band ensemble. This was a competitive process, and Abington is fortunate to have had the most students named to the ensemble of any school in the commonwealth. These students, who are all participants in Abington's M3 program and music industry coursework at the high school, will attend and perform in the PMEA All State conference in April, and will begin collaborating with students from across the state in the coming weeks to develop their setlist. The seven Abington High School students are: Nate Malfara - Keyboards Lucas Tokarczyk - Guitar Jacob Fortino - Bass Connor German - Bass Grace Corson - Vocals Gwen Judge - Vocals Jane Pickford - Vocals Come see these kids alongside the rest of the M3 program on Friday, March 13 at Abington Senior High School for the annual Xperience showcase. This no-cost program highlights these students at their peak, and will also feature the rest of M3s talented performers, production team, and marketing and media development students.

Maurice is a 7 year old with a heart conditon, and his wish is to go to Animal Kingdom in Disney World!

Thank you to Lekisha Thomas and Vernice Allen for an AWESOME start to semester 2 of the Johnson and Johnson micro-internship program.

Students will participate in this short-term, career exploration experience that allows them to learn directly from professionals through hands-on activities, discussions, and real-world exposure.

Students will explore career pathways, learn about the latest medical and scientific innovations, and gain insight into how research, testing, and clinical trials help bring new treatments, devices, and technologies to life.

On Wednesday night, the Concert Choir held a very successful Open Mic Night fundraiser in Cafe C, featuring 20 acts of solo singers and small groups. The students promoted the event, sold tickets and concessions, decorated, and ran a very successful show, which raised money for their upcoming Hershey Park trip in May. Congratulations to ASHS Senior YuLee Murphy, whose large-scale screen print titled "Fish Braids" was chosen to be included in the "Threaded Currents" joint exhibition between the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia.

YuLee created this work of art when they participated in the Fabric Workshop High School Internship Program. The exhibition runs from January 22 to April 12 at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Museum. We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #FirstintheArts

Open House at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) in Willow Grove is Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to see how EASTERN can give students a competitive edge in college or in a specialized career program. At the Open House, parents and students will learn how EASTERN students can earn college credits while still in high school through dual enrollment and articulation agreements. The Open House also offers an opportunity to hear from EASTERN instructors on the hands-on learning environment that complements students’ high school academics. Many special activities in EASTERN’s career programs are scheduled, and college and military representatives will be on site.
