Open House at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) in Willow Grove is Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to see how EASTERN can give students a competitive edge in college or in a specialized career program. At the Open House, parents and students will learn how EASTERN students can earn college credits while still in high school through dual enrollment and articulation agreements. The Open House also offers an opportunity to hear from EASTERN instructors on the hands-on learning environment that complements students’ high school academics. Many special activities in EASTERN’s career programs are scheduled, and college and military representatives will be on site.

For the last few weeks, Abington’s FAAD students have been visiting the elementary schools! They teamed up in small groups to teach kids about the dangers of drug use through fun activities. FAAD students were able to join elementary students for lunch and recess and showed the younger students that making healthy choices can be fun! We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #FirstinActivities

On Wednesday, February 11, ASHS AP and Spanish 5 students, chaperoned by Señora Mirabal and Señora Colon, visited the special exhibit called “Dreamworld: Surrealism at 100" at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Students discussed many of the featured works from artists like Salvador Dali and Joan Miró. Our scholars impressed the docent with their comments about the pieces and also participated in drawing activities related to the works. The day ended with lunch at the Reading Terminal Market, where students were able to taste both local and international cuisine. It was a fun-filled day in Philadelphia! This past Monday and Tuesday, our National Honor Society students volunteered during lunch and learn and used their creativity and compassion to make cards of encouragement for the children at St. Christopher’s Hospital—spreading kindness one card at a time! This past Friday, February 6, ASHS Chorale students visited the 8th grade chorus at AMS to perform for them and encourage them to continue their vocal music studies at the Senior High. The Chorale students serenaded the 8th graders, answered questions, and talked about their personal musical experiences at the high school. The 8th graders were able to see and hear firsthand what opportunities await them at the Senior High and ask questions of the singers and guidance counselors. It was a great collaboration, and we hope these singers choose to continue making music during their next 4 years! We are #AbingtonProud #ASHSProud #FirstintheArts

This weekend, our Ghosts competed in two major meets on Saturday, February 7th—the Consolation Meet at Glen Mills and the Track Carnival at Lehigh University. Across both competitions, our athletes delivered strong performances as the season begins to come to a close.

We brought home many medals with Mikayla Fitzmaurice placing 3rd in the 3000 meter run, Ella Swanljung placing 2nd in the 200-meter dash, Jason Levin placing 5th in the 400-meter dash, Terrell Wright placing 2nd in the 800 meter run, Chase O’brian placing 1st in the 3000 meter run, the boys 4x400 meter relay placing first, the boys 4x800 meter relay placing 4th, and Jonathan Long placing 4th in the long jump.

Over at the consolation meet, Dominika Kowalski placed 5th in the 200-meter dash, Ava Seaton placed 3rd in the 60-meter hurdles, and the girls 4x200-meter relay placed 5th!

These meets were a great opportunity to compete against tough competition and prepare for what’s ahead. Next up: Meet of Champs—the final stretch of the season. Best of luck to all of our qualifiers as they look to finish strong! 👻

In alignment with the fraternity's aim of "manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind," the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Sigma Mu Lambda Chapter, is proud to announce its 2026 Scholarship Program. This SML Scholarship is geared toward African American and Latino men who are matriculating at an institution of higher education in the Fall 2026 term, and whose aspirations align with the fraternity's aims.

The SML Chapter Scholarship seeks applicants who live in Montgomery and Chester Counties, and who have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.00 scale.

All graduating high school and continuing college applicants are eligible to receive scholarships of either $1,000 (High School or College Students) or $1,500 ( Alpha Brothers only).
