Themes for next week's Winter Break Spirit Week!
The Builders Club will be selling Candy Cane Grams all week long before school in the science wing lobby. For just one dollar, you can send your friend a candy cane and a positive message. All proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Make-A-Wish helps provide wishes for critically ill children and teens.
6th grade science students learned about how work and power are connected during a recent lab. They measured how much work it was to carry a backpack up the stairs and how changes in their walking speed changed the power they produced.
Winter is coming! Inclement weather procedures for the 2024-2025 school year have been emailed to parents/guardians and teachers and staff. Please familiarize yourself with our plans in the event weather conditions warrant an early dismissal, late arrival or school closure.
Ms. Moskowitz & her seventh graders are learning about human body systems. Today, they observed cells and tissues under the microscope. They looked at long tissue, bone, tissue, nerve tissue, and cardiac muscle tissue!

Abington Middle School's 8th grade student Sinai presented to 6th graders about bullying and how to address bullying. We are proud of the engagement of our students and look forward to continuing to address bullying as a whole.

Yesterday, 6th grade students in Mrs. Ambrose’s ELA class enjoyed learning about poetry and trying novels in verse with a Starbooks book tasting. Shout out to the Jenkintown Starbucks for providing some treats and supplies for students to enjoy!

This year's Thanksgiving 🥫Food 🥫Drive was a huge success..
AMS donated 1,175 items and yesterday several Student Council reps packaged 60 "baskets".
Each team contributed to the donations, with some significant contributors*:
6th-Sharks (152) and StingRays (239)
7th- Bobcats (131) and Bears (136)
8th- Eagles (98)
*Numbers are "straight" item donations (we awarded extra points for focus items and decorated collection boxes. There was no change to "winners").
Huge shout out to this year's StuCo for all their efforts and the AMS community for their generosity!
Beginning Monday 12/2, all students coming to the library during advisory/workshop must have their school IDs with them. If you lost your ID and need a replacement you can see Ms. Shefcik in the 6th grade office to buy a new one for $8.00.

The middle schools’s PBIS theme is Safe, Responsible, and Kind (SRK). Throughout the marking period student receive red SRK tickets from staff when they display impressive Safe, Responsible, or Kind behaviors in the building. Students who met the advertised behavior expectations and were able to turn in 10 of the SRK tickets they earned to their Advisory teacher were invited to the SRK Event. Over 500 students attended the marking period 1 Bingo event. Many thanks to the PTO for providing great prizes and the parents and student volunteers who made to positive event happen!!
