Last week, Abington Senior High STRIVE students visited the Transportation Department bus garage. Students enjoyed a tour of the lot where the buses are kept, learned about the tools that mechanics use, and had the opportunity to help prepare a bus for tire maintenance. #ASDProud

At last night's Board meeting, Ms. Susan McCarthy, Interim Principal of Abington Senior High School, and Ms. Casey Chakler, Coordinator of Student Support Services, recognized 20 ASHS students who have been identified as semifinalists, commended or special scholar students in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. Of the 20 students, one is a semifinalist, 11 are commended, one is a special scholar, seven are National African American Recognition Program Scholars, one is a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar, and one is a National Indigenous Recognition Program Scholar, as designated by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. We are saddened to share that one of our Abington Middle School science teachers, Mr. Paul Sharp, who is also an alumnus, lost his home in a fire yesterday. Thankfully, no one was hurt, though the next few days and weeks will undoubtedly be challenging for Mr. Sharp and his family.
