On Thursday, October 9, students from the ASHS Chorale (taught by Mrs. Wolf) and Advanced Acting (taught by Mrs. Whitman) traveled to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire for their annual School Days Festival. The ASHS Chorale competed against approx 20 other area schools in the music competition, performing a 16th century madrigal, and received second place! Advanced Acting students got to hone their skills at an improv workshop. Students also enjoyed spending the day exploring the faire and interacting with professional actors while in period costume. We are thrilled to announce and congratulate Jake Capps as our first Excellence in Athletics recipient of the year for the month of September. Jake is an integral member of our Golf team where his teammates look to him for guidance and leadership. Jake is energetic in regards to both academic and athletic activities. His strong academic determination has shown throughout his early years of high school where he has achieved academic success. Jake recently qualified for the coveted District One Golf Tournament which starts on Monday, October 13, at Turtle Creek. On Saturday, October 4th, alumni from the Class of 1975 walked through the hallways of ASHS once again during a tour of the new building and facilities. Approximately 60 members of the class joined the tour and were also able to see some memorabilia from their time at Abington Senior High School that Mr. Goochee and students plan to preserve for future generations. Not only is it Red October, but it's also National Disability Employment Awareness Month! Celebrate the convergence of these two occasions on Tuesday, Oct. 7, by patronizing The Perfect Blend... On The Go as they cheer on our Phillies at the Abington Township Municipal Building. Grab a hot dog, bag of chips and a beverage for a suggested donation of $5 any time between 10 a.m. and noon. The Perfect Blend is run by the Abington Senior High School ACTIVE Academy, a program for students ages 18-21 to learn vocational and independent living skills. #ASDProud #ACTIVEAcademy #GoPhils
