At last night's Board meeting, Ms. Susan McCarthy, Interim Principal of Abington Senior High School, and Ms. Casey Chakler, Coordinator of Student Support Services, recognized 20 ASHS students who have been identified as semifinalists, commended or special scholar students in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. Of the 20 students, one is a semifinalist, 11 are commended, one is a special scholar, seven are National African American Recognition Program Scholars, one is a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar, and one is a National Indigenous Recognition Program Scholar, as designated by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. We are saddened to share that one of our Abington Middle School science teachers, Mr. Paul Sharp, who is also an alumnus, lost his home in a fire yesterday. Thankfully, no one was hurt, though the next few days and weeks will undoubtedly be challenging for Mr. Sharp and his family.

Former head football coach, Mr. Tim Sorber, and assistant coach, Mr. Kevin Conlin, were interviewed by FOX29 this afternoon to talk about their experiences coaching ASHS alumnus and Detroit Lion, Craig Reynolds, who even came back to visit his alma mater two years ago. #ASDProud





Parker Williams, kindergarten at Willow Hill Elementary, thoroughly enjoyed our first real snowfall of the season! He proudly posed with the snowman he created on our snow day. #ASDProud


Ms. Livingood's class at McKinley Elementary recently had a special visitor. Ryan Willliams, a chemistry teacher at the Senior High and the parent of Jack Williams, a student in Ms. Livingood's class, taught the students about determining if various liquids were acids or bases.






With the forecasted snow totals for tomorrow increasing as the day goes on, all Abington School District schools and offices will be closed Friday, January 19, 2024.


Over the past week, elementary students across ASD honored the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., through school assemblies, artwork and service projects such as the Sock Roll Challenge. #ASDProud #ASDServiceLearning

All Abington School District schools will open on a 2-hour delay tomorrow, January 17. Students are to report to their bus stops or schools two hours later than their usually scheduled time. The YMCA will not provide morning care.


Due to today’s closure of schools and offices, tonight’s Meet and Greet with Dr. Alice Swift for current Abington Senior High School families has been postponed. The event will be rescheduled to Monday, January 29 from 6-7 p.m. in the ASHS auditorium.
