PING PONG: Attention all students and staff interested in PING PONG. We will be holding a Ping Pong tournament this year leading up to the March Madness selection Sunday. Any current Abington High School Student or Teacher is welcome to participate. Games for the tournament will start Monday 2/16 and will take place during lunch and learn in the gym based on student availability over the course of the following 3 weeks. The Championship Game will be played in front of the whole school at a mini pep rally held during lunch and learn on Friday March 13th. If you would like to enter the tournament please see Mr. Pitkow in room C-241 on B days or in the Gym Area on A days for information on how to sign up.

KEY CLUB: Need to get rid of some books lying around your house and begin your spring cleaning early? Key Club's annual book drive will start on Monday, February 2nd and run through Friday, March 27th. Bring in your gently used books for ages 0 through 12 and collect service hours: 1 hour per 5 books. Books can be dropped off in Mrs. Peters room A132 or Miss DeGregorio's room C120. Last year we donated over 3,000 books to the Mitzvah Circle! Can we surpass that this year?

Key Club:

1) Attention all Key Club Board members and Officers, both NEW and OLD: our monthly board meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 17th during Learn 1 in C120. Please reach out to Mrs. Peters or Miss DeGregorio if you cannot attend.

2) Attention all Key Club members: our monthly MEMBER meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 10th at 2:45pm in Think Tank 2. We'll be finalizing our last fundraiser for our Make-A-Wish kid, Maurice!

3) During the month of March, Key Club is offering 3 service opportunities. The first is the ongoing book drive: bring in 5 books to either Mrs. Peters in A132 or Miss DeGregorio in C120 and receive a service hour. The drive will end on Friday, March 27th! The second is the Kiwanis Special Athlete Basketball Tournament on Saturday, March 21st at Hatboro-Horsham High School. Sign-ups for volunteers and participants are on the Key Club Google Classroom page. The third is the Copper Beech Science Fair on Wednesday, March 25th from 5:30-7:30pm. Sign-ups are also on the Key Club Google Classroom page. Questions about the science fair can be directed to Ms. Cohen in C228.

ABING THON:

AbingThon is having a fundraiser at Shake Shack in Jenkintown TODAY, Thursday, March 5th, all day! 25% of the proceeds raised will come back to our amazing organizations.

Shirt sales for AbingThon's main event are going on from Monday March 2nd through Friday March 6th. Shirts are $10 and can be purchased outside of Cafe A during lunch.

Lastly, AbingThon is hosting a PIE-AN-OVERALL event on Friday during lunch and learn in room A219. It is $3 to pie one of the overalls for a good cause!

JUNIOR PROM: Junior Prom tickets will be on sale March 2nd–6th during Learn Time (excluding Wednesday for Advisory) outside Think Tank 2. Prom will be held March 19th from 7–10 PM at The Fuge. Tickets are $70 (cash or check). Guests are welcome but require a clearance form. Make sure you’re free of obligations to attend!

FROSH HOP: Attention freshman and sophomores. Tickets to the Frosh Hop semiformal will be sold during Learn 1 from Thursday March 5 through Thursday March 12. Tickets will be sold in A208, C202, and C211. The cost is $20 (cash or check). No tickets will be sold at the door, so make sure to purchase your tickets in advance.

BUILD ON: BuildOn is currently hosting a Warming Supplies Drive to support individuals in need during the cold season. We are partnering with The Everywhere Project to help distribute donated items directly to members of our community who would benefit most.

We are collecting new or gently used socks, hats, gloves, scarves, and other cold-weather essentials. Donations may be dropped off in science classrooms or the library, guidance office, or front office. The drive will run now through March 13.

As an added incentive, students may earn one hour of community service for every three items donated, up to a maximum of three hours.

***Juniors Interested in Interdisciplinary Studies:

For any junior interested in applying to next year’s Senior Interdisciplinary Studies course, a mandatory meeting will take place Thursday March 5th during the 2nd learn in the 2nd floor think tank and Friday, March 6th during the 1st learn in the 2nd floor think tank. Interested students need to attend only one of these meetings. If unable to attend but still interested, see Mr. Turner in room A137 or Mr. Penderghest in room A138 before the meeting.

VIDEO GAMES CLUB: The Video Games Club is hosting its 4th annual Video Games Tournament. This event will take place on Thursday, March 26 after school in the library.

The entry fee to compete for prizes is $5.00.

This year’s games are Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Wii Sports, Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle and Mario Party.

M3 AUDITIONS: Auditions for the M3 touring and modern band ensembles at Abington HS's are underway. Auditions include considerations for vocals and instrumental performance, and round one video submissions will be due by April 3.

All necessary details and submission information are available on our Google Classroom using code "v45d3dz5" or using this LINK.

This nationally-recognized program features consistent performances across the greater-Philadelphia region and performs alongside top-tier talent on a regular basis, as well as work in studio recording original music and covers. Plans for next year include continuing to record new music projects as well as potential for another touring experience.
