KEY CLUB:

1) Attention all Key Club Board Members and Officers, both OLD and NEW: our monthly board meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 18th in room C140 in Learn 1. All officers, both OLD and NEW, should be in attendance along with the board members. Please see Mrs. Peters or Miss DeGregorio if you cannot attend.

 

2) Attention all Key Club members: our monthly meeting will take place TODAY, Tuesday, March 11th at 2:45pm in Think Tank 2. Please bring your service logs so they can be signed!

 

3) Attention all Key Clubbers: there are 4 service opportunities for the month of March! 1 = The Book Train is still running until Friday, March 28th: bring in 5 gently used books for 1 service hour to either room C140 or room C120. 2 = 3) On Saturday, March 29th, the Indoor Color Guard needs volunteers for their event here at school. Sign-up on the Key Club Google Classroom page to help volunteer or donate baked goods!

 

4) Key Club is still selling the results of the Matchomatics personality survey that was given out in Advisory on Wednesday, February 5th. Stop by Mrs. Peters room C140 with $5 to see who you are most (or least) compatible with! All proceeds benefit our Make-A-Wish kid, Joey!

Are you interested in learning more about the military air force? Abington will be hosting a career chatter for anyone thinking about going into the US Coast Guard on Tuesday March 11th. See Mrs. Vanassche in Room A140/A142. There are only 24 spaces, so sign up fast!! This is an amazing opportunity, so definitely take advantage of learning more about the US Coast Guard.

Friday, March 14th:

There will be a Career Chatter on March 14 in A110 focused on vocal performance. Meg McDevitt, a vocal coach and off-broadway actress will be coming to speak to students about working in theatre arts. During the presentation, Ms. McDevitt will be doing a “Broadway Workshop”, where she will listen and coach students as they sing Broadway Hits. Friday, March 14th:

Mike Vasilikos, a midday host and operations manager at WXPN will be coming to speak to students on March 14th about radio broadcasting. He will discuss what it is like to be live on the air and other opportunities within radio. The Career Chatter will be during Period 5 on Friday, March 14th. COLLEGE AND CAREER FAIR:  The College and Career Fair is this Thursday, March 13th from 6:00pm to 7:30pm in the Senior High main gym. There will be close to 100 college, career and military representatives. Please stop in the counseling office if you have any questions. See you there!

M3 EVENTS:

1)     M3 will be selling chocolate coin vouchers for St. Patrick's Day during Lunch and Learn. These will be available for purchase at $1 for 2 coins, and will be delivered on St. Patrick's Day by M3's Leprechauns. Please send all questions to Mr. Longwill in A108.

 

2)     M3 will be hosting a FREE concert this Friday night at 7PM in the auditorium, featuring Girl Colors, Detour, and 20 More Minutes performing music from the charts of 1985. Come out, dress up like the 80's, and have a fantastic time! Please send all questions to Mr. Longwill in A108.

 

3)     M3 will hold the Modern Music Invitational on Saturday, March 22 from 11AM to 9PM. The event is open to any Abington School District student, and will feature masterclasses and clinics from musicians who recorded and toured with such acts as Beyonce, Janet Jackson, Lil Uzi Vert, Rob Thomas, Bacon Brothers, Lauren Hart, and more! Admission for Abington students is $10 for the day, which includes a keynote presentation, and $5 for those only attending the concert. The concert will feature bands from schools in PA and NJ. If we manage to sell 500 tickets, the students of M3 will shave Mr. Longwill's head to close out the concert day! Do you like learning about current events, or are you considering a career in communications ? If so, there will be a Career Chatter on Wednesday, March 19th during period 6 with journalist and Abington graduate Katie Katro. Katie will speak to students about what inspired her to go into journalism, and how this eventually led to her working for channel 6 action news.
