This month, Rydal is focusing on being HELPFUL. Today we had our monthly assembly to introduce our word of the month where the second graders sang a catchy song about being helpful. Our student of the month recipients were announced in front of the whole school along with our raffle winners! Keep showing that awesome BEE-havior!

The student council at Rydal held their annual food drive last week! Students in grades K-5 worked together all week to bring in items that could be donated to a local food bank. At the end of the week, student council members organized and counted all of the food that was collected. In total 1,346 items will be going to the Jenkintown Food Cupboard thanks to the donations from the Rydal community!

Information regarding Abington School District's procedures in the event of inclement weather was emailed to all parents/guardians today. Read the information on our website: https://www.abingtonsd.org/article/1370629

As we enter the month of December, students gathered for an assembly introducing our new word of the month: Gratitude! The 4th graders did an awesome job with their presentation and even introduced a gratitude jar that students can utilize all month long. Raffle winners for the month were also drawn and some awesome prizes were handed out for students who showcased the 4 BEEs!

Rydal was filled with mustaches today! This month students collected money to celebrate Movember and to raise awareness for men's health. To wrap-up the month, students and staff sported mustaches all around school to show their support for this amazing cause!

Today, and every day, we are grateful for our Abington School District community. Happy Thanksgiving! #ASDProud #OneASD #Thanksgiving2023

The smell of pumpkin filled the hallways as 5th graders took part in a Rydal Thanksgiving tradition by making Pumpkin Bread! Students and parent helpers worked together to measure ingredients, mix the batter, and get our loaves ready for baking. Everyone is excited to take their pumpkin breads home to share with their families!

We had an awesome time celebrating American Education Week! Students enjoyed having special visitors come to Rydal to work together on different projects and activities. Each classroom from Kindergarten to 5th grade was filled with laughter and smiles as everyone enjoyed working and learning together!

During American Education Week, school districts across the country honor the team of people who work in our nation’s public schools keeping our students safe, healthy, and ready to learn. Thank you, ASD support staff! #ASDProud #OneASD #WeLoveOurESPs #NEArESPect

Students in our 4th grade classes took a field trip to Pennsbury Manor! The groups took a tour of William Penn's house, made headache bags, and even got to write with a quill pen! They had an awesome day exploring and experiencing a historical landmark so close to home!

This Veterans Day, we thank the veterans from across our nation, especially those who work here in Abington School District! Thank you for your service. #ASDProud #VeteransDay2023
Congratulations to our student athletes from across our seven ASD elementary schools who competed in our annual Elementary Track Meet earlier this week! The event serves as a transition activity to bring students together from all of our elementary buildings before they become Middle School classmates. #ASDProud #ASDAthletics

Rydal's Track Team had an awesome time at the District's Track Event! 4th and 5th graders from all of the elementary schools in the district got together to compete in different track and field events. The team showed amazing sportsmanship and positive energy and the crowd was going wild during each event. Way to go on an amazing track season!

First graders at Rydal are having blast this fall! Students are enjoying the season by painting pumpkins, welcoming a visit from Briarbush's Mr. Gross, and voting for their favorite candy to celebrate election day!

This week schools nationwide celebrate National School Psychology Week to highlight the critical work school psychologists do to help students thrive. This is a time to recognize and show appreciation for our school psychologists, who support students' learning and mental and behavioral health, promote positive and inclusive school climates, serve on school safety and crisis teams, and collaborate with families, teachers, and administrators to improve student outcomes. #ASDProud #OneASD #SchoolPsychWeek

REMINDER: The Arts in ASD parent/guardian group meets again tonight at 7pm. This meeting will be held in the library at Abington Middle School (above the main office entrance). The meeting is open to any parents/guardians of students in grades K-12.
