ASD Celebrates the USA logo

As Abington School District continues the celebration of America’s 250th birthday and approaches the Thanksgiving season, a districtwide food drive is being launched on Monday, Nov. 2 in the spirit of giving back to the communities where ASD families live and work.

Donation boxes will be placed in the lobbies of all nine schools in the District, as well as at the Administration Building, with an aim of collecting 250 cans at each of the 10 locations.

Students and staff are asked to support their fellow neighbors to the extent that they are able by donating canned goods at their assigned school. Members of the broader community who wish to contribute can bring their donations to the Administration Building from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The drive will end on Monday, Nov. 30.

Posters will hang in each school’s lobby to track donations so that students can see the progress of their collective efforts to help feed families in our area. With the goal of collecting at least 2,500 cans districtwide, donations will ultimately be distributed to roughly a dozen local food banks/pantries in our area that serve the families of Abington Township and Rockledge Borough.

Should any ASD students and their families be in need of food resources, our District social workers remain available to provide support. Additionally, any member of the public can visit the following link to find their closest food bank/pantry.
