Students in Ms. Livingood's third grade class had a special visit and chemistry lesson from high school science teacher and McKinley parent, Mr. Williams. Mr. Williams started by teaching students about the properties of carbon dioxide. The highlight of the lesson was when students used a universal indicator and a portion of the pH scale to determine if various liquids were acids or bases. Watching a quarter sing, a candle extinguished with carbon dioxide, and using dry ice to make bubbles float were also exciting activities.
