
Start with Hello Week starts today in schools across the District! At AMS, students were welcomed to the building with a special performance from M4, while at Roslyn Elementary, students were greeted by the Abington Police. The aim of Start with Hello Week is to grow an empathetic and inclusive community to help students and their peers feel more connected. Attention All Writers!!!!
Consider joining AMS’s Creative Writing Club this year.
Open to all students in grades 6-8 who enjoy writing. We will explore a variety of writing genres and have a committed time and space to write creatively.

Attention 8th Grade Girls trying out for soccer: Try outs TODAY, Friday, 9/15 at 3:30 . Please remember to bring shin guards, cleats, running shoes, a water bottle, a ball, and a t-shirt with your last name written on the back to tomorrow's tryouts. We will meet at the fields by the Susquehanna Road bus entrance tomorrow at 3:30 PM sharp!

Mental health and bullying prevention expert, Tom Thelen, spoke with our 6th graders at an assembly about how to identify bullying, how to respond with respect, how to have positive self-esteem in any situation, and when to "be the change" at their school.

Please be advised that our bullying prevention guest speaker for Thursday, September 14th, Tom Thelen, is being rescheduled to 7-8 p.m. in the ASHS auditorium. The program will also be streamed live on our Abington School District YouTube channel.


FALL PLAY:
Calling all singers, dancers, actors, and technicians: Interest meetings for the fall play will take place on Tuesday, September 12th and Thursday, September 14th from 3:00-4:15 in the Little Theater. Learn more about auditioning and signing up for tech crews. Activity buses will be available.

7th/8th graders:
All Students in 7th & 8th grades. That want to play Football. There will be an interest meeting, after school on Wednesday, September 13th. In Commons C. Starting at 3:10 pm and ending at 4 pm. Students will be able to catch the 4:15pm activity bus.

7th Grade Boys Soccer Tryouts will be Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday; September 18th to 20th and will be held on the Soccer Fields past the bus loop next to Susquehanna Road entrance.
All tryouts, practices, and games will start at 3:15pm and run until 5:00pm, ending in time for 5:15pm buses and guardian pick up. Players are expected to be at every tryout, practice, and game. Come with any equipment you have including water, cleats, shin guards, ball, and running shoes. If you will need to borrow equipment, please let us know during our first meeting. There will be an interest meeting, TODAY, September 12th in room C-57 at 3:15. Please begin the process of getting your PIAA completed so you are eligible to begin practice September 18.

SAVE THE DATE: Thursday, Sept. 14, 6-7 p.m. at the ASHS Auditorium! Tom Thelen, lead author of Mental Health 101 for Teens and founder of Reset Schools, will be speaking at a special event for parents and guardians. Reset Schools is a nonprofit that teaches practical mental health skills and resiliency. Since 2012, Tom has spoken at over 800 schools and conferences, and has been featured on PBS, CBS, and NBC.

#SummerinASD: Gemma and Grayson Tait, AMS 8th and 6th graders, spent two weeks visiting family in Germany, in addition to seeing Salzburg, Innsbruck, and Schwangau.
