Black History Month Announcement:

As we begin the last week of February and the last week of Black History Month, we will have daily announcements to recognize important individuals and also connections to our school.

"In 2021, Amanda Gorman became the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history. She uses her words to shine a light on hope and the future. We all have a voice, and how we use it matters. Today, let’s focus on positive expression. Use your voice to encourage a teammate, stand up for a peer, or share a great idea in class. Remember Amanda’s words: 'There is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it; if only we’re brave enough to be it.'"

It’s time for the book of the day. The book is called by Storm warriors by Elisa Lynn Carbone

In 1895, after his mother's death, twelve-year-old Nathan moves with his father and grandfather to Pea Island off the coast of North Carolina, where he hopes to join the all-black crew at the nearby lifesaving station, despite his father's objections.
