Today’s book of the day is The Underneath by Kathi Appelt.
An old dog that has been chained up at his mean owner's run-down shack becomes friends with two kittens born underneath the house. The kittens must stay underneath the house to be safe from the mean owner. But kittens are curious and they end up getting in trouble, causing separation, danger, and other problems in their desire to be reunited and free.
