
It was a beautiful day for 5th Grade CommUNITY Day! 5th graders from all seven elementary schools gathered at Schwarzman Stadium to make new friends and compete in team-building activities. The Class of 2031 transitions to Abington Middle School in the fall! #ASDProud











Today we celebrated the students who will be completing their time in the ACTIVE Academy, and wished them the best in their next chapter. Additionally, this morning's breakfast was a chance to thank our many community partners in our area, as well as our first group of ASHS student interns! Earlier today, Dr. Fecher met with a group of students at Abington Senior High School for a Table Talk, where they shared what they like best about their school and offered suggestions for what could be improved. #ASDProud





Rydal Elementary students just hit the jackpot of fun rewards! Thanks to their incredible efforts in smashing their Boosterthon fundraising goals, the students got to enjoy a Lip Sync Battle starring none other than their amazing principal, administrators, teachers and staff! #ASDProud





Jimmy Curran, author, disability advocate, and entrepreneur visited Copper Beech Elementary to speak to students! Mr. Curran recently published Will the One-Winged Eagle, a children’s book with an inspiring message of acceptance and overcoming adversity. #ASDProud







At Tuesday's Board meeting, Dr. Fecher and Board Vice President Dr. Melissa Mowry recognized Board President Mrs. Shameeka Browne on being named a winner in the Champion of Equity - District Leadership category of the second annual Excellence in Equity Awards program for educators, presented by the American Consortium for Equity in Education. The winning nominees were selected based on outstanding achievement in supporting equitable access, opportunity, and outcomes for all learners. #ASDProud #AwardsofASD




Last night, Dr. Fecher attended the Abington Middle School PTO meeting to hear from parents and guardians, and share insights on the District. Thank you to our parent/guardian volunteers districtwide who have dedicated their time to supporting our schools this year! #ASDProud #OneASD


Sincere thanks to Sarah Meller, who spoke to Copper Beech 4th and 5th graders last week about her experience as a young girl escaping the Nazis in Split, Yugoslavia. The presentation was facilitated by The Holocaust Awareness Museum and Education Center in Elkins Park.










At last night's meeting of the Board of School Directors, the Teaching and Learning Department presented the 2024 Mathematics Achievement Awards, which recognize elementary and middle school students for their accomplishments in the Pennsylvania Statistics Poster Competition, the Mathematical Olympiads and the Continental Mathematics League Competition. Congratulations to the Abington Senior High students who participated in the 2024 Greenfield Youth Film Festival. This festival is the largest and most competitive in the area, with over 20 schools submitting films that are judged by industry professionals. #ASDProud #ArtsinASD


Next week, the Abington School District Business Office will host four informational meetings throughout the community to assist Senior Citizen homeowners with eligibility and application requirements for the state and District's tax rebate program. Thank you to Holocaust survivor, Ronnie Breslow, who spoke with students at Abington Senior High School yesterday on the 85th anniversary of her journey as a passenger on the SS St. Louis.

The Board meeting agenda includes consideration of, and action upon, a proposed resolution authorizing the incurrence of nonelectoral debt through the issuance of General Obligation Bonds Series of 2024.

Congratulations to all who participated in the May 4th Girls on the Run 5K! Girls on the Run inspires individuals of all abilities to discover, build, and grow their self-confidence. At the end of each season, volunteer coaches facilitate the completion of a Community Impact Project and a 5K, providing a tangible sense of accomplishment and setting a confident mindset into motion. #ASDProud
