Work Study

Prerequisite: NONE (Credits contingent on work hours)
A student may apply for the Work Study program if he/she is entering the junior or senior year and has parental consent. Once the student provides evidence of having obtained a permanent, part-time position, the student s schedule is adjusted to allow the student to gain work experience during the school day.

Students are encouraged to find employment in a field in which they have an interest and one that will provide them with the opportunity to learn the necessary skills to be successful in that field. Students are expected to remain employed in that position for the entire school year.
While on the job, the student will receive bi-weekly evaluations from their supervisor. The work study coordinator will visit them once or twice during the school year to evaluate the work environment and better understand the student’s job duties.

ALL STUDENTS MUST BE EMPLOYED IN A POSITION WHERE FEDERAL AND STATE TAXES ARE BEING WITHHELD, AS REQUIRED BY LAW.  There are NO exceptions to this regulation. It’s the law!

Interested students should consult a guidance counselor and the work study coordinator, Mrs. Zieske, Room 224.
