About Roslyn Elementary

Roslyn Elementary School, located in Roslyn, PA, is one of seven elementary schools in the Abington School District. The Roslyn community has a rich tradition and the school is a center for the Roslyn community, and neighborhood takes great pride in the programs and the learning that takes place at Roslyn.  Students are encouraged to do their best, work hard, and treat everyone with respect and kindness. More than 400 students and over 60 teachers and staff members make up the Roslyn Rockets community, embodying the Abington School District motto of "Excellence is our standard; achievement is the result."

Roslyn R.O.C.K.E.T.S.

The Roslyn staff participates in a School-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention & Support Program (SWPBIS) to facilitate pro-social behaviors throughout the school. The SWPBIS Program is designed to encourage desirable behaviors in all school environments so that students can reach their full academic potential.

Arrival & Dismissal Information

School Hours: 8:50 a.m. – 3:20 p.m.

  • Student absences should be reported via Skyward or the Child Check system by calling 215-884-3368 and pressing option 2.

  • Students should not be dropped off to school prior to 8:30 AM (unless attending the YMCA Before/After School Care)

    • If you require childcare before 8:30 a.m. and/or after 3:20 p.m., the YMCA provides before- and after-school enrichment at Roslyn Elementary School. Contact the YMCA directly for details, fees and enrollment information.

    • Other care options are also available throughout the community; contact the Roslyn main office for a list of options.

  • Changes to dismissal procedures should be made in writing to your child’s teacher or in emergency instances by calling the main office.

  • Children are not permitted to ride skateboards, roller blades, or roller shoes to school.

  • Children may only ride the bus to which they are assigned.

  • Walkers are not permitted to go home on a classmate’s bus.

  • Pets are not permitted on school property when walking children to and from school, or during any school events such as picnics and field day.

  • Students will not be permitted back to the classroom after dismissal unless the teacher is present in the room.

Please keep the office updated on any changes in your telephone numbers throughout the year, in addition to maintaining your parent/guardian contact information in the Skyward Family Access system.

Before/After-School Activities

Throughout the school year, Highland may offer a variety of before and after school activities for students. These activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Drama Club

  • Intramural Sports (intermediate grade students only)

  • Science Club

  • LEGO Robotics Club

Children must have a parent’s or guardian’s permission to participate and attend all before/after-school activities. It is expected that students who are participating in these activities will be dropped off and picked up at the appropriate times. Failure to adhere to this may jeopardize your child’s participation in these activities.
