Each year, the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association (PSCA) honors one of its members as Coach of the Year in each high school classification. The criterion for this honor is very demanding. The coach must demonstrate knowledge of the game through the understanding of the rules and must have developed a sound coaching philosophy. They must have established good rapport with the team, officials, and other coaches. Their conduct, as well as the conduct of the team, must represent the highest ideals of the game. They must also have exhibited involvement outside of their high school program and be recognized by fellow coaches.
This year, the Pennsylvania State Soccer Coaches Association will present the 2025 W. Gene Davis Memorial Award as Coach of the Year in the Male AAAA classification to Randy Garber of Abington Senior High School (ASHS).
Garber has been the head soccer coach at ASHS for 32 years. In November 2025, he led the Boys Varsity Soccer Team to its first state title in program history.
The award will be bestowed at the PSCA Honors and Awards Banquet held January 31, 2026, in Harrisburg, PA.
