Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year opens February 7, 2024! Please see below, and visit the K-12 Registration page for more information about the enrollment process.

ELIGIBILITY

Children whose 5th birthday occurs on or before September 1, 2024, may enter kindergarten in September 2024.

If there are questions concerning attendance area and your child's assigned elementary school, consult the following Residence Zones map and contact Child Accounting for K-5.

REGISTRATION

Registering your child for school may be done online and is a multi-step process.

If you do not have access to complete the pre-registration process online, please contact Child Accounting at 267-715-4233 or k5registration@abington.k12.pa.us.

Residency

Residency in the school district must be established prior to completing the online registration. The procedures for demonstrating residency can take time depending on individual circumstances. You will need to provide several documents for your child, even if you have a current student residing at the same address.

For a detailed list of registration requirements and corresponding forms, please read the Superintendent’s Administrative Procedure Regarding Registration Procedures.

Please note that submitting the pre-registration information online does not guarantee your student has met the requirements for admittance to Abington School District. After submitting this online form, you will be contacted to complete the process. When you are contacted, you will be informed of any documents you may need to fulfill the registration requirements. Failure to provide sufficient documentation will delay the enrollment of your student.

Health Forms and Immunizations

Parents/Guardians in Abington Township and the Borough of Rockledge who have a child nearing kindergarten age should submit the health forms found on the Immunizations and Forms page under Student Services. Forms should be completed by a family physician and dentist, and submitted at the time of registration, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Pennsylvania school law requires that children must be immunized before original entry into school with the following:

  • 4 doses of diphtheria, tetanus and acellular pertussis* (1 dose on or after the 4th birthday)

  • 4 doses of polio vaccine (4th dose on or after 4th birthday and at least 6 months after previous dose given)**

  • 2 doses of measles and mumps vaccine administered at  12 months of age or older.  Doses must be separated by at least one month.

  • 3 doses of Hepatitis B vaccine.  The 2nd dose must be given at least one month after the first dose; 3rd dose must be given after 6 months of age, at least 4 months after first dose and at least 2 months after the 2nd dose.

  • 2 doses of varicella (chicken pox) vaccine administered at 12 months of age or older or a history of the disease.

* Usually given as DTP or DTaP or if medically advisable, Dt or Td

**A fourth dose is not necessary if the third dose was administered at age 4 years or older and at least 6 months after the previous dose.

These requirements allow for the following exemptions: medical reason, religious belief, or philosophical/strong moral or ethical conviction.
